Angie Wang

Angie Wang has been one of my absolute favourite illustrators of recent, looking at her whole body of work through her quite big online presence (I totally relate to having many many blogs, and accounts to show my work) is like watching someone grow, you see the real process of what it’s like to be interested in illustration, everything changes all the time!

I can really relate to her varied portfolio as my own approach to working has been very similar, I am definitely someone who is guilty of chopping and changing style, and over hauling completely, but Wang reassures me that this isn't something to be ashamed of, and something to embrace, after all, change is good!

Here are some of my favourite pieces she has created over her career;

Louise Zhang

I’ve been crushing on Louise Zhang for a while, her foamy viscous sculptures look like they could melt at any moment, and the sickly colours look sweeter than any candy floss you’ve ever tasted- to me, they’re abstracted rococo paintings, and I love them. Her work is so dreamy, sexy and feminine, they literally look like they’re oozing and I wish I could own everything she makes.

Testing! Testing!

My name is Jessica and I’m an art and design student in Leeds, I dreamed up this project “Gurrrl Crush” only a few hours ago, and I guess my big idea is a space to celebrate women and LGBT artists, writers, performers, and musicians who really inspire me as a young artist, as well as me just, well, fancying them and wanting to smooch their brains and work, and oh my god...

So stick around, and feel free to email me with your own girl crushes, suggestions, submissions, love letters to the girl artists you crush on so badly its unhealthy, or even to show me your own work/projects- gurrrlcrush@gmail.com

I've already written out a list of all my crushes I can think of off the top of my head so, expect posting to commence very shortly!
